Hi, I’m Alana — Editor, Eastern Canada & International at VineRoutes, a regular contributor to Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants and Best Bars, and a freelance writer, editor, and consultant. I tell stories at the intersection of wine, food, travel, and culture, with a focus on the people and places behind unforgettable bottles and dishes.
My writing, photography, editorial work, and on-air segments have appeared across print, digital, and radio platforms, including VineRoutes Media, Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants Magazine, Canada’s 50 Best Bars Magazine, Wine Enthusiast, The Vintner Project, Forbes, Elle Québec, Lucky Peach, Pipette Magazine, Saveur, CJAD800 Radio, Silo 57, and more.
WSET Level 3 certified and Le Cordon Bleu trained, I also work behind the scenes as a researcher, ghostwriter, and editorial partner for publications, writers, and journalists. I’ve appeared as a guest on radio shows and podcasts, and serve on the wine jury at Sélections Mondiales des Vins, North America's largest wine competition.
In a previous (and sometimes still parallel) life, I pursued a Master’s degree in psychology and worked as a C-suite global executive and consultant in corporate communications and human resources, partnering with some of the world’s most recognized brands in beverage, fashion, retail, technology, and finance.
I’ve lived, written, and worked in Montreal, Toronto, NYC, Paris, Dubaï, Qatar, and Algeria, and I’ve tasted my way through 43 countries across 5 continents in search of the people and places that make food and wine truly memorable.
Currently based in Montreal, I’m happiest with a glass of wine in hand—at a favorite wine bar or unwinding at home with my pack of rescues: Birdy (pictured here) and Clooney (two ex-street dogs from Lebanon) and Snax, a bossy, three-legged Maine Coon.
If you’d like to work with me, collaborate, or just talk wine & food, feel free to reach out via my Contact page.
Cheers,
Alana
Oh. And while we're here... here's what I don't do:
I don’t do paid partnerships, sponsored posts, or “pay-for-play” anything. What I do offer is honest, independent writing shaped by curiosity, not advertising. Every piece is researched, fact-checked, and free from outside influence. Wherever I have editorial control, transparency is non-negotiable. If I’m invited somewhere, you’ll know. If something’s comped, it’s disclosed. And if I choose to write about a sample, I’ll make that clear too. Because integrity isn’t a buzzword to me—it’s my baseline.
